Still the highlight of the summer calendar, athletics’ fans will this year be treated to twice as much talent as the London Grand Prix is held over two days and the world’s best athletes will not waste the opportunity to lay down a marker ahead of Beijing. Records and Crystal Palace are synonymous, the Russian pole-vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva has twice set a world record and in 2005 became the first woman to ever clear 5m, while American shot putter Reese Hoffa recorded the furthest throw of 2007 with 22.43m at last year’s event.
Send off the team to Beijing with a London roar in their ears!
