Following an unprecedented Team Gold for the British women and Silver for the men at the 2005 European Mountain Running Championships, UK Athletics has named the Great Britain & Northern Ireland team to challenge for medals in this year’s European Mountain Running Championships on Sunday 9 July in Upice, Czech Republic.
Mary Wilkinson (Bingley) heads the Women’s team after leading the British team to Gold in Austria last year, where she finished seventh in her first international competition.
Great Britain & Northern Ireland Team Leader Adrian Woods said:
“We are looking to emulate the success we achieved last year, the women in particular should produce a good team result and have the potential to regain their title.
“The course is the same as the World Mountain Running Championships held in 1997 and should suit our athletes, so we have a great chance of doing well.”
