Dwain Chambers was celebrating on Sunday night after making a brilliant return to competition on his comeback from a drugs suspension, finishing third at the Norwich Union British Grand Prix.
Chambers, like the rest of the field, was no match for Asafa Powell, who at the Gateshead venue equalled the world record time of 9.77 seconds he shares with Justin Gatlin. But Chambers' podium placing in a time of 10.07secs was still regarded as a fantastic comeback.
"I am very pleased with the way I ran, but more than that, I am pleased to be back back in competition," said Chambers who failed a test for the designer drug 'THG' in August 2003. "I was very happy with the reception I got. I am happy people seem to want to give me a second chance."
