The 30th Belfast International Cross Country incorporating the UK Cross Challenge takes place on Saturday with a significant British contingent planning to make the trip across the sea in search of further points.
Senior Women
Amongst those competing against a high class international field are Kate Reed (Bristol and West) - fresh from her four mile road record set over the festive period. Tara Kryzwicki (Charnwood) and Sonia Thomas (Sale) also line up pulling on England vests for the race.
2006 World Cross Country representative Gemma Phillips (Keswick) as well as Jenny Blizzard (Rotherham) who ran for the Norwich Union GB team in the Chiba Ekiden are also set to start as they represent the North of England, and World Junior Championship steeplechaser Ruth Senior (City of Norwich) also starts.
Senior Men
Angus Maclean (Team Southampton), Phil Nicholls (Tipton), Gavin Thompson (Crawley) and Alan Buckley (Gateshead) pull on England vests for the race, whilst there is also an entry for Mark Miles (Belgrave Harriers). Sean Dirrane (Leeds City), who was unfortunate to miss out on a slot in the European Cross Country team last December following passport problems, represents the North of England alongside Jason Ward (Altrincham), Gareth Raven (Sale) and Mark Hood (Sunderland).
