Licence 2009

Any event which offers rewards to runners depending on their finishing position is defined as a race. The sport has specific rules to cover road races, and one of these is that all races must apply for and obtain a Race Licence.

Race organisers should apply for their licence 6 months in advance. The Licence Scheme is a two-way communication system whereby the sport checks that the basic requirements are being provided and that there is a degree of uniformity in standards of race organisation within the UK for the safety of all concerned.

The 2009 licence forms replace the 2008 forms. There has been no change to the licence fee structure so event promoters will still continue to see increased income in comparison to the permit scheme. UK Athletics Public Liability Insurance Cover applies to all Licenced Events promoted by an affiliated organiseation.

If you require a copy of the Public Liability Insurance statement then please email: jtemperton@ukathletics.org.uk
