Licence 2008

Any event, which offers rewards to runners depending on their finishing position, is defined as a race. The sport has specific rules to cover road races, and one of these is that all races must apply for and obtain a Race Licence.

Race organisers should not leave it until the last moment before applying for a Licence. The Licence Scheme is a two-way communication system whereby the sport checks that the basic requirements are being provided, for the safety of all concerned, and that there is a degree of uniformity in standards of race organisation within the UK.

The 2008 licence forms replace the 2007 permit forms. All post 1 April events will now benefit from the new fee structure, which on average will make the event promoter 55% better off. In return for the co-operation of the organiser in providing the required information, UK Athletics include Insurance Cover to all Licenced Events.

If you require a copy of the Public Liability Insurance statement then please email: jtemperton@ukathletics.org.uk
