The new food hygiene laws came in to affect in the UK from 1st January 2006.
How much the legislation affects organisers will depend on the size and type of the event. There are a number of new EC Regulations, which apply directly to food providers in the UK, and National legislation in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
If you provide food to members of a club, or at Running Events, then you will have to comply with food hygiene regulations. This is also the case even if you do not charge for the food.
There are a number of free food safety management packs available from yourl Environmental Health Department at your local council to help organisations comply with the new laws.
