Road Running and Multi-Terrain Events

Road Runners

Road Running Events, whether they are elite competitions, general mass participation, charity or fun runs, all have the same basic criteria requirements for organisation.

Under UK Athletics (UKA) Rules and the UKA Permit Scheme, there are certain requirements relating not only to Standards of Organisation, but also Health & Safety and other specific criteria. These are there to ensure the well being of not only the participants, but also the race officials, the general public and other road users.

Allied to Road Running are the Multi-Terrain Events, They also have similar organisational criteria and are also subject to the same UK Athletics Rules.

The purpose of this section of the website is to give guidance to Race Organisers on what is required under a UKA Race Permit. Also the mandatory requirements for a Risk Assessment to be undertaken, along with general information on where to look for advice on statutory requirements under Health & Safety and associated subjects.
