British Wheelchair Athletics Association (BWAA)

We meet at Stoke Mandeville on the second weekend of every month and any person who is interested in taking up throwing or finding out more about coaching or organising a throws group is more than welcome to attend. We have qualified, experienced coaches in attendance at every training weekend.

British Wheelchair Racing Association (BWRA)
BWRA promotes the involvement of disabled people in wheelchair racing.
- It acts as an information contact for: athletes, race directors, coaches, teachers, local authorities and the media
- It organises National Championships in wheelchair racing for its members
- It organises season-long road and track Grand Prix competitions
- It maintains and develops coaching resources for wheelchair racers
- It helps in the creation of development of clubs for wheelchair racers
- It organises regular training weekends and camps
- It liaises with bodies for integration into mainstream athletics events
- It prepares and selects athletes for International Teams and works alongside the UK Athletics World Class Programme in developing athletes to compete at Paralympic level

Cerebral Palsy Sport (CP Sport)
CP Sport promotes and seeks to increase opportunities for disabled people, in particular people with Cerebral Palsy, to participate in athletics. It provides sporting opportunities to individuals of all ages and at all levels from recreation through to Paralympic competition.

Dwarf Athletics Association (DAA)
DAA make regular sporting opportunity accessible and enjoyable to anyone and everyone of restricted growth in the United Kingdom. Mencap Sport (England)
Mencap Sport was established in 1995 when Mencap took over the work of the English Sports Association for People with Learning Disability.
Mencap Sport works in three main areas:
- Working with Governing Bodies of Sport and other sports providers to increase and improve opportunities at all levels, through training and partnership work
- Organising a National Competition Programme and supporting gifted and talented athletes to train towards and compete in INAS-FID Competition (International Sports Federation for People with Intellectual Disability)
- Campaigning on issues of inclusions, including the UK School Games and Paralympic Games

UK Sports Association for People with Learning Disability (UKSA)
UKSA is the national charity which co-ordinates, promotes and develops sport for people with learning disability at UK and International level.

WheelPower
WheelPower is the national disability sports organisation for wheelchair sport and provides sporting opportunities for men, women and children with physical impairments to take part in a number of sports, including athletics.
Based at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, the birthplace of the Paralympic Games, WheelPower organises a number of sports events at junior and adult level to introduce disabled people to sport. These include the annual National Junior Games, Inter Spinal Unit Games and National Championships.
WheelPower supports both the British Wheelchair Athletics Association (BWAA) and British Wheelchair Racing Association (BWRA) through the provision of facilities for training and events at Stoke Mandeville Stadium. WheelPower also provides information on accessing wheelchair sport and signposts both associations and UK Athletics for people interested in taking up athletics and wheelchair racing.
WheelPower’s Wheel Appeal aims to provide new sports wheelchairs to remove one of the major barriers to participation in wheelchair sport.
