The Federation of Disability Sport Wales (FDSW) is a pan-disability National Governing Body of Sport which aims to promote and develop quality sports opportunities.
Disability Sport Wales aims to:

Create new clubs and give professional advice and support to improving existing clubs

Increase the number of disabled people who actively participate in sports clubs, groups and sessions

Improve the quality and number of coaches and volunteers within disability sport through coach education and other systems

Create new and further develop existing opportunities for disabled people to compete in sport at local, regional and national level

Work closely with the Federation’s National Performance Manager ensuring that individuals with potential are given the opportunity to train and, where appropriate, compete to the highest standards
Supporting the National Athletics Officer, there are 22 development officers who are based in each of the 22 local authorities around Wales. There are opportunities for disabled people to take part in athletics within each local authority. Each club varies from an indoor sports hall athletics session, to an inclusive athletics session on a track.

Scottish Disability Sport
Scottish Disability Sport (SDS) is the Scottish Governing and Coordinating Body who has the vision of leading the development of sport and physical recreation for disabled people in Scotland. SDS has produced a national strategy which will direct the work of the Association through to London 2012 and beyond.

Disability Sports NI (DSNI) is Northern Ireland’s main disability sports organisation. The adidas Mini Wheelchair Marathon is the opening event of the adidas Mini London Marathon. The race is open to young people all over the UK in age category races: 11-13 years and 14-17 years.
The entry criteria requires participants to be able to self propel themselves over three miles within the time limit of 60 minutes. Competitors must wear a helmet and gloves and can either use a racing chair, generic sports chair or day chair.
Since the launch of the adidas Mini Wheelchair Marathon in the early 90’s winners have included David Weir and Shelly Woods
