Formerly a sprint wheelchair racer, Gemma is a promising throws talent who took some time out from athletics to complete her academic studies where she studied for a Masters Degree in maths.

She now lives and trains in Loughborough.

Outside of athletics she collects badges from places she visits, can play flute and keyboard, and is a supporter of Widnes Vikings Rugby League club.

After her athletics career she would like to be a primary school teacher.
