Career summary

  • David helped get the Norwich Union Great Britain and Northern Ireland team off to a terrific start at the Assen 2006 World Championships by winning gold in the discus on day one of the competition, and breaking the championship record with each of his first three throws.

  • He was previously a cabinet maker before breaking his neck in an accident – he got into athletics as part of his spinal rehabilitation.

  • David holds the F51 World Record of 10.22 set in Birmingham in 2004.

  • David is a keen Liverpool supporter, and his uncle was part of the GB football team that competed in the Melbourne Olympics.

  • One of his heroes is Carl Fogarty.
