International Competitions
UKA as the national governing body sends teams and individuals to appropriate international competition opportunities. These range from competitions that have an impact on the European and Worldwide scene through to stepping stone competitions supported to assist the development of athletes. UKA currently supports a range of competitions including the following:

In addition the British Olympic Association field teams at the Olympic Games (every 4 years) and European Youth Olympics (every 2 years), and the British Paralympic Association field teams at the Paralympics (every 4 years)
National/International Televised Events Programme
Norwich Union support a series of 7 televised meetings throughout the year, (3 indoor and 4 outdoor). These events often incorporate Championships Trials, for example the NU Beijing Trials and UK Championships. UK Athletics, supported by FastTrack, select the national and international athletes for the following events.
UK Challenge Series
The Challenge series includes cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field events throughout the course of the year, with the opportunity for athletes to compete against athletes of a similar standard on a regular basis.
The Challenge series provides competitions in the following areas:

UK Challenge series - created through a number of existing competitions and new initiatives such as ThrowsFest and JumpsFest. Athletes compete across the season to register their best performances and see if their final place in the rankings earns them an invitation to the UK Challenge Final and the right to compete for the title of UK Challenge Champion.

Indoor City Challenge - 12 City Teams from across the 4 Home Countries including the 43 English Counties compete against each other to be crowned the Indoor City Champions.

UK Cross Challenge - High-class competition for seniors, under 20s, under 17s, under 15s and under 13s at 4 meetings during the winter with the final incorporating the trials for the World Cross Country team.
FastTrack Events Limited
FastTrack are the event agency employed by UKA to organise and manage the televised event programme. This includes working with the UKA Performance and Competitions Department to identify, and select athletes for the televised events. FastTrack are also the commercial agency for UKA aiming to source new funding partners for the sport.
SELECTION POLICIES
UK Athletics has developed a procedure for the selection of team members for each competition. Selection policies for every event will be included on the UK Athletics web site and can be viewed at competitions/selection-criteria/
